Invoicing on HICARI: self-employed, companies and taxes
On this page
To get paid on HICARI, you must issue an invoice to HICARI BRAND SL, either as an individual (self-employed) or as a company. Taxes depend on where you have your tax residence: the withdrawal form calculates them for you and tells you which legal wording your invoice must include.
Who issues the invoice
- Individual (self-employed): you invoice under your name and NIF, DNI or NIE.
- Company / legal entity: you invoice under your company’s legal name and CIF.
You always issue the invoice yourself; HICARI does not generate it for you. The account where you receive payment (IBAN or PayPal) must be in the name of the person or entity issuing the invoice.
Taxes according to your tax residence
| Tax residence | VAT | Personal income tax withholding |
|---|---|---|
| Spain (mainland and Balearic Islands) | 21 % | Individual: 15 % standard, 7 % if you are newly self-employed, or 0 % if your activity is not subject to withholding. Company: no personal income tax |
| Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla | No Spanish VAT; the invoice must state the exemption (depending on your situation, IGIC or IPSI may apply) | Individual: same as on the mainland. Company: no personal income tax |
| Another EU country | Include your country’s VAT or apply the reverse charge | No withholding |
| Outside the EU | No VAT (0 %) | No withholding |
What your invoice must include
- Your details: name or legal name, tax identification number and address, matching the details you enter in the form.
- HICARI BRAND SL’s details: they appear in the Invoice details step, under Invoice to.
- Number and series, and a date in the current month that is not in the future.
- Taxable amount, VAT and personal income tax withholding according to your situation, and the total.
- The legal wording indicated by the form, if applicable.
- If you include your IBAN or PayPal email, make sure they match those used for the withdrawal.
We check that the invoice matches the information you entered. If something does not match, the withdrawal status changes to Requires correction, and we tell you what to review.
Do I have to be self-employed?
You can register and start collaborating without being officially registered as self-employed, but to withdraw your balance you need to issue a valid invoice. As general guidance in Spain:
- If you collaborate regularly, you will normally need to register as self-employed.
- If it is something very occasional, you still need to issue a valid invoice: consult an accounting firm about how to do this in your situation.
- If you already have a company, you can invoice through it.
Once you have your invoice, follow the steps in How you get paid: wallet and withdrawals.
