What to do if a creator declines your invitation
On this page
It’s normal for a creator to decline a private invitation, and it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with your brief. The held balance automatically returns to your available balance, and you can invite another creator in a couple of minutes without rewriting the brief.
Why a creator might decline
- Schedule. They can’t meet the delivery date you set.
- Fit with the brand. Even if they don’t publish the video, they put their image behind it and prefer to work with brands they identify with.
- Competition. They’re collaborating with a brand in the same sector.
- The brief. A script that’s too long for the duration, travel they can’t do, or requirements that are difficult to meet.
If the creator gave a reason, you’ll see it in the request under Reason for decline. In some cases, the reason isn’t shown.
What happens to your balance
When they decline, the held amount is released immediately and we notify you by email. In My requests, the request card will show Invitation declined. The same happens if the creator doesn’t respond within 72 hours: the invitation expires and the balance becomes available again.
Invite another creator
Open the request
In My requests, click Manage decline on the card or open the request.
Click Invite another creator
The creator explorer opens. Search using the filters, open a profile and click Invite this creator.
Review the price and confirm
If the new creator costs more, you only pay the difference: first using your balance and the rest by card. If they cost the same or less, their price is held. If you had chosen a paid extension that this creator doesn’t offer, the request changes to the 3 months included and the price is recalculated. Click Confirm invitation (or Confirm and pay).
The new creator receives the same brief and has another 72 hours to respond.
How to get the next invitation right
- Check the profile’s Acceptance rate: it indicates the likelihood of accepting a private request.
- Pay attention to how long they take to respond to requests and when they were last active.
- Prioritize creators with reviews and completed collaborations on HICARI.
- Review your brief: make sure the script fits the duration and the date allows enough time.
- If you want more options at once, launch the same brief as a public request and choose from those interested.
If you’d rather not continue
Click Delete request. The request is deleted and, if any balance remains held, it returns to your available balance for you to use whenever you want.
